Are You Hitting The Snooze Button? It Is Time To Wake Up! By ESPsychic, Kimberly
I am not sure about the rest of you but when my alarm clock goes off in the morning my first reaction is to hit the snooze button. My digital clock radio is strategically placed in a position that I have to get out of the bed in order to shut it off. It also has been dialed to the most obnoxiously loud music that I can find on regular FM radio. I really enjoy my sleep, that short peaceful five to six hours I get each night for my body to work its magic and try to repair the abuse I subjected it to the day before. Those ever so brief interludes where anything is possible in my dreams. And I would give anything to stay in my comfort zone at 4:30 a.m. when the digital radio starts its morning onslaught of auditory annihilation. But by placing the alarm clock outside of arms reach I found a way around the morning “snooze” that we all seem to fall victim to. And so my morning begins as I leap from the bed and try to avoid colliding with anything on the way to silence the enemy and move into my second comfort zone. Which is my morning coffee; random surfing of the internet and work on writing my book that has become a morning ritual. However, I will admit, I still hit the snooze button at times when it is time to get ready for work. There is always one more article to read, one more paragraph to write or one more post that has drawn my attention distracting me from what I should be doing. I inevitably hit the snooze button and invoke the delay of leaving my comfort zone.
The above analogy illustrates how as humans we stop ourselves dead in our tracks and miss opportunities by “hitting the snooze button” instead of taking action. We resist change and delay moving on; staying stuck in a place, a time, or a situation. We have all heard the saying “never put off till tomorrow what you can do today”. And most of us apply that philosophy to the little everyday things we have to accomplish and complete…most of the time. How frequently when we are thinking about our biggest dreams do we just hit the snooze button on our life? I will do it tomorrow or next week or next year or when I have more time, or when I have more money, or never because it is just a dream and I can’t do that. It is so much easier to stay put in a place you have come to know, a place you may or may not be comfortable in because the unknown is a very scary place for many. What if I fail, what if I look stupid or what if I end up with less than I have now, are common thoughts that go through most everyone’s mind at some point in time. Self-limiting beliefs can stop us in our tracks and the mental process of formulating excuses gives energy to the fear. We make excuses to try and justify why it cannot be done now and reach over and hit the snooze button. However, the only thing that holds anyone back is self and the mental thought-forms that Self creates.
It is time to WAKE UP and stop hitting the snooze button. We tend to believe things we experience and doubt those things we have not yet experienced. It is the balance or rather imbalance between belief and doubt that creates your reality. We have conscious and unconscious thoughts and both are equally powerful in getting what we think about. It is what we think about most that we attract into our lives. As soon as you voice doubt you have in affect hit the proverbial snooze button. Everyone has seen it, that friend who always wins when they enter a contest, and this friend will tell you “I always win”, and they believe it. There is no doubt in their mind when they enter a contest that they are the winner. You have also known people who seem to look for the next bad situation and frequently will say “what’s next” inviting more situations into their life to match their thoughts and rate of frequency. They wake up late because they hit the snooze button too many times and say “great, now I am going to have a bad day”. And of course on the way to work they hit every red light and spill their coffee down the front of their clean shirt. And again they will say “what else can go wrong” and it does again and again. Because in their thoughts they asked for it and we always get what we ask for. “Thoughts are energy and energy takes the form of its unique vibration”.
Energy can be transferred and exchanged and for this reason every thought someone has when voiced can affect all those who hear it through sub-conscious programming. Sub-conscious programming as a child can lead to sabotage as an adult. A few examples of this programming are: college costs a lot of money, do not talk to strangers, be careful or you will get hurt, what will the neighbors think, I’m too busy, or one of my favorites “you sure have a vivid imagination you need to come back to reality”. We are conditioned and programmed as children to live in our parents’ reality and their thoughts influence how we develop our own thoughts. I have seen this programming at work in so many peoples’ lives. The salesperson who shuts down when it is time to make a cold call will hear their mothers’ voice in their head say “don’t talk to strangers and don’t ask for money”. So they hit the “snooze” button and find an excuse to justify why they can’t do the call now. The individual who proudly proclaims “I want a job that will pay me one hundred thousand dollars a year but hears his father in his head say no one is worth that kind of money” will sub-consciously block his ability to earn what he wants because he does not feel he deserves it. Never going after the dream and staying put because his doubts are stronger than his beliefs is just another hit of the “snooze” button. The individual who says “I would really like to have a garden and grow my own vegetables” but after buying the seeds puts them aside and says “I am just too busy” just hit the snooze button. The adult that says “I really want to go back to school BUT I don’t have the time or the money” just hit the snooze button and created a reality that lacks time and money.
Creating reality is something we do continuously and each time we hit that “snooze” button we shut the door on a different reality waiting to happen. Some might refer to this madness as procrastination. But let’s be honest, it is hitting the snooze button on your life. Every time you get an inspiration, an idea, or a divine guidance and you do not act on it, you are hitting the snooze button. And I can see clearly a group of divine beings looking down on us smacking their foreheads every time they set something in front of some crazy human and the human hits the snooze button. From above we probably look like a bunch of mice in a maze running around yelling “Who Moved My Cheese”. In 1998, Spencer Johnson wrote a book called “Who Moved My Cheese”. The book is a parable about two mice and two humans and how each reacts and adapts to change. In the book the character Haw realizes that “When you move beyond your fear, you feel free.”
A very powerful realization occurs when you “WAKE UP” and stop hitting the snooze button on your life. When you WAKE UP and stop living in fear and start moving. When you realize that failure is impossible, you feel a freedom that lifts you higher. The realization of “failure is impossible” is a mindset. If you do something that does not work out the way you envisioned it, it is not because you failed, you simply need to take a different approach. Thomas Edison said “I have not failed; I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”. Where would we be today if Thomas Edison had hit the snooze button on his idea? When you realize that everything you ever desired is within your reach. When you say “I can”, I am going to do this and have no doubt or fear, doors begin to open, and people appear in your life that might otherwise not have appeared. Your vibration will rise attracting to you like a magnet every opportunity to reach your dreams. And when others cast their own doubt upon you, remember that they are still living in fear and hitting the snooze button on their life. It is your choice whether you continue to move or hit the snooze button and stay in a comfort zone created by sub-conscious programming.
So how do you overcome this programming and stop hitting the snooze button? You have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone. You have to be willing to let go. Let go of the fear, let go of the need to control, let go of doubt, and open yourself to trusting that you are being guided. Start by thinking about your own programming, those thoughts that create the fear. Write them down and then write down their polar opposite. This is the true wealth of positive affirmations. The process of writing down your own individual positive affirmation and repeating them to yourself will start re-programming your thoughts and enable movement. Become consciously aware of your thoughts and if you hear yourself saying “I can’t” ask “why not, who is stopping me”.
It is okay to start small when first stepping out of your comfort zone. For an entire day walk up to as many strangers as you can and smile and tell them to have a nice day, you may actually make a difference in someone’s life or they may make a difference in yours. Take a different route to work than you normally drive. You may encounter something inspiring on the way that you never knew was there. If the image of someone you have not seen in a very long time enters your mind, pick up the phone and call them. Do not hit the snooze button, they may have an important message for you and were thinking about you also. Listen to your inner voice and trust that you are being guided. Am I going to keep my alarm clock across the room so I have to get out of bed to shut off its obnoxious sound? Of course I am, I am human and am still inclined to the hit the snooze button. However, when divine guidance taps me on the shoulder I listen and do not hesitate out of fear; I know that to “snooze is to lose”.
